bladelings were here to find something, and I fear I know what.Īmonia: We barely trade words, and now you decide to fill me in? Direct your thoughts to the present.ĭaeghun: I do not have much time to talk - there are many who are wounded, Amonia. But I also understand what can and cannot be changed.ĭaeghun: Do not burden your resolve by dwelling on loss. You wouldn't understand.ĭaeghun: I understand perfectly. She was a promising young mage, or so I've been told.Īmonia: She was a good friend. Many have not been so fortunate - and others have seen their final night.ĭaeghun: I understand you lost a friend of yours in the attack. does anybody know what it was?ĭaeghun: I see you are unharmed. Georg: One of those dwarves mentioned they were searching for something. We must rely on our own wit and resources. Georg: Well then - what in the Nine Hells are they doing here?īrother Merring: Lathander doesn't illuminate all mysteries for me. Their kind is rarely seen in our realm - they dwell in a place beyond. Georg: What were those things, anyhow? Never seen anything quite like them.īrother Merring: They're called bladelings. That's the old man we dragged, kicking and screaming, onto the battlefield. Georg: Thank the gods we were able to hold them at the farm. These cutscenes are supposed to create suspense, but thanks to boring camera angles, reuse of stock animations, and NPCs just standing there when it's not their turn to act (notice the dwarf behind Georg), they end up being at the very least unconvincing.Īnother wave to go, now with the help of Daeghun and his archers, and we drop into a drudgingly long cutscene without so much as a chance to take a breath and walk around. The metaphorical cavalry has arrived! Where was Daeghun this whole time, anyway? Where was he when Amie died? The defense of the wheat field is still going on.įinishing this wave immediately triggers a cutscene. Bevil merrily goes along doesn't he have keys from chests in his own house? Not that there's something that interesting in the chest - just a garnet, a healing potion, and a dagger +1.īack outside. And for some reason has to bash open the locked chest behind it. On the way back, Amonia notices this other, still door. Sounds like a happy, perfectly normal family to me. * Children who take too much enjoyment from witnessing death and slaughter. * Their mother, an old lady who cheers like a kid at flashy spells. * A psycho, easily angered mountain of muscles. We know now that the Starling family consists of: And don't be cheering like that.Ĭhild: Why not? You tore them apart, set the dogs on them, too!īevil: Listen to Amonia - this isn't some kind of game, you all!Ĭhild: Oh, shut your mouth, Bevil! We could have screamed ourselves hoarse waiting for you to show up, you dumb ox!īevil: What?! Why you ungrateful little gobl.Īmonia: Shut the door, lock it and yell if you hear any more of them.Ĭhild: We're sorry! We'll stay here and be quiet - we promise!

At least the kids are now safe - behind a door that wasn't actually locked.Īmonia: Uh. Luckily, she can heal herself while Bevil and the dogs pick up the dwarves one by one. All the dwarves immediately rush at Amonia, surrounding her and quickly bringing her HP to a dangerous low. it becomes a showdown of giant dwarves against two squishy adventurers backed by three very angry hounds. On the bright side, at least they aren't going to eat us.

I wonder what the Lord of Neverwinter would have to say about this if he knew villagers in his domains now name dogs after him. come on, boys, follow us, we got some hunting to do. Retta Starling: That door doesn't lock, Amonia - and it looks like the hounds are willing to help us take care of our "guests" - if we opened the door, those dogs would tear into them.īevil: Then let's open the door and set the dogs loose.īevil: You're right. Retta Starling: I haven't heard anything from inside. They really don't look like either dwarf or bladeling corpses, though. Oh, so that's why there are these two corpses lying here. and the hounds tore out the throats of two of them before they barricaded themselves inside the living room. Retta Starling: Fortunately, those beasts woke up the hounds, too. but now those creatures are there, between them and us. Retta Starling: I told the children to lock themselves inside the house. Retta Starling: The dogs drove them inside the living room, and they're still trapped inside. Retta Starling: When I heard the fighting, I tucked the children away and came to see what was the matter, and suddenly these. Amonia, thank the Gods you're here.īevil: Mother! What happened? Where are those dwarves that came in here? Last time we left our heroes, Amonia followed Bevil to his house to save his family, leaving the other villagers at the mercy of the attackers.
